Anthony J. Donahue, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024. Born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, Tony was a devoted husband, father, and friend who touched the lives of many. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Tony attended Cardinal Dougherty High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service extended beyond his military duty; he was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Commander of VFW Post 3610, and served as the Catholic Action Officer for AOH Division 87.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Tony was an ardent fan of Notre Dame football and the Philadelphia Phillies. His faith was central to his life, as he was a devoted Catholic, Eucharistic Minister, and a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church. He also generously donated his time volunteering at St. Francis Inn Soup Kitchen, embodying his spirit of service.
Known for his infectious laughter and warm personality, Tony was a friend to all. He found his greatest joy in being a devoted father to his daughters, Kelly DiPasquale (Anthony) and Trisha Fagan (Tim), and was happiest surrounded by his girls. He is survived by his grandchildren: Bryan Monica, Alistair DiPasquale, and Angelina DiPasquale, as well as his great-grandchildren Mia and Jayden. He is also survived by his sisters Marie, Kate, and Anna, and numerous close friends and family members. He was predeceased by his sister Agnes and brother James.
Family and friends are invited to Anthony’s Life Celebration John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, on Monday, October 28, from 6 to 8 PM, and at St. Dominic’s Church, 8504 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136 on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. A Mass will follow in Anthony’s honor at 10:30 AM. Interment with military honors will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on Monday, November 4th at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to AOH Division 87 and St. Dominic’s Church.
