The family of WW II USN Leonard Riccardi have requested that WWR stand a flagline at the funeral home. Leonard Peter Riccardi of Stockholm, NJ at the age of 98 passed away peacefully in his home on October 14, 2023. He was born on October 7, 1925 in Newark NJ to the late Rocco and Filomena Riccardi. Leonard grew up in Newark with his parents, sister Josephine and brother Paul. He attended Barringer High School where he was the Captain of the fencing team. Leonard was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the European Theaters of War during World War II entering into active service on January 17, 1944; he was on the USS Nuthatch in the invasion of Normandy and Omaha. Leonard received an honorable discharge on May 17, 1946 with a rank of “Pharmacist’s Mate Seconded Class”. The family will receive their friends at F John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, Nj on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 3-7 PM.
