Post subject:  SEPA SHORT NOTICE 10/21 HM Airman Gavin Pippin

We’ve been asked to stand for a flag line for the late Air Force Airman First Class Gavin Pippin

Gavin Patrick Pippin, 21, of Chester Springs, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Cannon Air Force Base.
Born in Hanover, New Hampshire, he was the son of Douglas and Kathleen Pippin.
Gavin graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in 2020 and joined the U.S. Air Force in the spring of 2021.

During his service, Gavin was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. Due to his exceptional achievements and dedication to duty,
Gavin rapidly reached the rank of Airman First Class after enlisting in the U.S. Air Force as an Aerospace Propulsion Apprentice. He was awarded his 5 skill level qualification well ahead of his peers and became a vital member of the aircraft maintenance organization on base. Throughout late 2022 and early 2023, Gavin was deployed to Qatar in support of three operations for which he was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Gavin was a gifted athlete who excelled in all of the sports that he played, which included football, baseball, lacrosse, wrestling, and rugby. He enjoyed solving puzzles, playing board games, spending time with the people he loved, and climbing anything that could be climbed. On the rugby pitch, Gavin excelled as an inside and outside center; he proved to be an integral player and leader of Bishop Shanahan’s three state championship teams.

Gavin was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was thoughtful, endlessly kind, and generous to a fault. He faced problems with a toughness rarely matched and approached obstacles with fearlessness in all endeavors. Gavin was deeply proud of his independence, fully supporting himself beginning at the young age of 19 when he began to build his military career.
In addition to his parents, Gavin is survived by his three siblings, Tucker, Bryce, and Emma Pippin; his maternal grandfather, Harold A. Shaw and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Maureen C. Shaw, and by his paternal grandparents, Reginald F. Pippin, Jr. and Gladys T. Pippin.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can join me on this flagline. I realize it is short notice. This young man's mother said to a mutual friend that she is grateful that his service to our Country would be recognized. I'd like to have the flagline in place by 940 am. Weather may be bad so please be safe and consider caging it if raining. Church is on route 100 heading north about 1/4 mile from the town of Eagle (Downingtown interchange of turnpike. )

It was truly a privilege to stand in honor of this young man and support for his family and friends. His best friend was on the flight home with him and is really having a difficult time. Four other Airmen drove 25 hours straight to be here for him and his family. The turnout of mourners filled the Church which, along with his fellow Airmen, showed the type of family this is.

Adam: you did your friends and friends of friends proud. We're glad you had the honor of presenting the flag for the casket after Mass.
