SEPA 5/30 W/H Escort for WWII Vet to Normandy France

Warriors' Watch has been honored to meet a 99 year old WWII veteran who has been asked to go to Normandy to represent all Americans in the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion.

2nd Lt., Alan Shapiro, US ARMY Air Corp, will be escorted by local police and state police from his home in Blue Bell to PHL. We have been asked to be part of that escort (weather permitting). If the weather is not conducive for bikes, we can cage it and hold a flag line at his departure in Blue Bell.

For those of us who are camera hogs, there is a French TV crew following him from his home all the way to France. This link is to an interview with CBS News:make_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, ' ', 'https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/alan-shapiro-world-war-ii-veteran-elkins-park-victory-europe-day', '', ' class="postlink"')

Rally Point: Hilton Garden Inn, 530 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Washington, PA 19034
Rally Time: 10:00 am
KSU: 10:30 am

RC: Available

Mr. Shapiro is a wonderful man! He looks much younger than his age, has a great sense of humor, and acts like a young man! With the help from local and State Police, we had a smooth trip to the airport. What was also sweet were the people who stood on the side of the road in a few placed to cheer him and it was very nice for a couple fire companies to stage and fly the flag over Morris Road. We hope Mr. Shapiro has a wonderful trip and that it's all he hopes it to be. We also look forward to his arrival back home so the "welcome home" is factual.
